Whether he sees it as a point gained or two points lost…

I think it’s the exact opposite of the game against Girona, where I was happy with the result but not with the performance. I was just happy with the result. Now I’m very, very, very happy with the performance (today). I couldn’t have asked for more, but of course not with the result, because when you lose points in a home game against Fulham it’s definitely not what you expect or want. When you’re two goals down, so many things go against you, except for one thing – our players and our fans, who were outstanding today.

On the question of whether Robertson had suffered a blow when he committed the foul that led to his red card…

I think what the team showed today, the character they showed, Robbo also showed. When you get a kick like that, two studs on your knee, it can sometimes hurt for a few minutes. If you just keep running, it will get better and better and that’s exactly what we were hoping for. Not least because I only had one defender on the bench who wasn’t a left full-back. So we were hoping that he would manage to get through and I think he did quite well, but the moment I realized he wasn’t quite himself was that one time when they got the ball in the back and he started to run. He was just able to head the ball back to Ali (Alisson Becker) but I thought, ‘Okay, let’s see how it goes.’ And I think it was pretty quick after that when he got the red card. There was nothing to blame him for, (it was) a character he wanted to maintain because he had taken a pretty hard hit on his knee with two studs. Unfortunately it resulted in a red card, which was a deserved red card.

About Ryan Gravenberch’s performance…

Impressed, as was everyone who was in the stadium or saw the game. Ryan showed another excellent performance today. Without the ball he was usually in our back row and sometimes had to play against a nine, against wingers who are really fast. And with the ball he reached midfield. An outstanding performance from him. But if we just highlight him, I don’t think I’m giving enough credit to all the others who played alongside him and around him. I couldn’t have asked for more. Dominate the game, more possession with 10 men, more chances to score – you name it. Unfortunately for us, perhaps the only chance they had with 10 men resulted in a goal – that happens sometimes.
