The Golden State Warriors are through two games against their Pacific Division rivals, losing to the Los Angeles Lakers on Christmas Day and falling to the LA Clippers two days later. It’s never good to lose games in the division when considering playoff placement, but the Dubs have a chance to be at the top today as they face another Pacific team, the Phoenix Suns.

Both teams are fighting to stay afloat in the standings, so this game is crucial to their plans to build good habits and good spirits as the calendar turns to 2024.

The Warriors started the season super hot and suddenly fell into a deep hibernation.

Part of the reason this team hasn’t figured it out is because it’s trying to develop players on the fly around franchise cornerstones Stephen Curry and Draymond Green. Another reason is that Curry and Green are reaching the back end of their careers and can’t dominate every night like they did in their prime. They missed yesterday’s contest, a loss to the Clippers.

Curry should return today, but Green is questionable, according to Anthony Slater.

Meanwhile, the Phoenix Suns have their own problems to deal with. On paper, they have the superior squad: Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal are statistically as good a trio as you could hope for in team building.

Unfortunately, this did not translate into success on the pitch. They fought just like the Dubs!

Also unfortunately for them, their center Jusuf Nurkic is suspended after a scuffle in the last game against the Dallas Mavericks. Who would have thought it wasn’t just Draymond feuding with Nurk on the court?

This game will be another depressing night for one team and a triumphant return for the other. At least for one night!
