Previglian wins high and long jump at season opener

Reading Pa. / Bethlehem, Pennsylvania – Junior Maggie Previglian recorded victories in the high jump and long jump, highlighting the top performances of the Stevens Institute of Technology women’s indoor track and field team in two events on Saturday.

Stevens competed in both the Fast Times Before Break at Lehigh University and the Alvernia Winter Meet. There was no team score in any of the meets, as the competition featured multiple MAC and regional opponents.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Previglian earned Middle Atlantic Conference qualifying marks in both the high jump (1.58 m) and long jump (4.59 m), winning the high jump by 0.06 m and the long jump by just 0.01 m. She beat her teammate in the long jump Caroline Tighewho covered a distance of 1.52 m. Tighe secured third place in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.55, qualifying for the MAC Championship meet.



Ella Santoro took second place in the long jump (4.82 m) and sixth place in the high jump (1.27 m). Isabel Vogel finished second in the 400 m (1:05.05). To compete in athletics again for the first time after a successful season with the women’s soccer team, Lauren Alley took second place in the 60 hurdles with a time of 10.24.



At the field events Anacarolina Ventura took fourth place in the weight throw (12.15 m), as Michelle Elias Flores came ninth (10.12 m). Claire Deatrick (10.11m), Josephine Lulaj (9.67m), Breona Pizzuta (7.91 m) and Sarah Lovelsmith (6.85 m) also took part in the weight throw.

INSIDE THE MEETING

  • Previglian moved up the top 10 list in the high jump, moving up two spots is now undecided with teammate Maya Lapinski sixth place overall.

NEXT
The Ducks close out 2024 next Friday when they compete in the Seahawk Shootout at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Complex, hosted by Wagner College.
