Purdue announces QB coach with offensive coordinator experience

Head coach Barry Odom and the Purdue Boilermakers announced Darin Hinshaw as the new quarterbacks coach. Hinshaw, a UCF graduate (1995), has coached at UCF (1999-2000, 2021, 2023-2024), MTSU (2003-2005), Georgia Southern (2006), Memphis (2007-2009) and Tennessee (2010 –2009). 2012), Cincinnati (2013-2015), Kentucky (2016-2020) and UAB (2022). Hinshaw will replace former OC and QB coach Graham Harrell, who was fired midway through the 2024 season.

This is an important announcement as Odom and Hinshaw will likely meet with Ryan Browne, who entered the portal shortly after it was announced that Ryan Walters would not be returning in 2025. Hinshaw has a long list of NFL talent that he has recruited and coached throughout his career, but he may be best known for coaching former receiver and kick returner Lynn Bowden at quarterback during the 2019 season. This season, Bowden was named Manning QB of the Week and won the Paul Hornung Award (recognized as the most versatile player in college football).

Hinshaw will likely help new offensive coordinator Josh Henson and give Purdue a completely different look on the offensive side of the ball with two very experienced coaches. Hinshaw is already at the Team Performance Center with Odom and other staff members.
