QB Chase Herbstreit, son of former Ohio State QB Kirk Herbstreit, is committing to Michigan for the 2025 class

Before becoming an ESPN college football analyst and one of the faces of the sport, Kirk Herbstreit was a quarterback at Ohio State University and played for the Buckeyes from 1989 to 1992.

Now one of his sons is on his way to becoming the hated rival of his alma mater.

Chase Herbstreit, a quarterback in the 2025 recruiting class, has committed to Michigan, he announced to On3 Sports on Sunday.

The younger Herbststreit recently completed his senior season at St.

Herbstreit is listed at 6-foot-4 and weighs 185 pounds and has a non-star rating from 247Sports.

He is the second quarterback in the 2025 class for coach Sherrone Moore and the Wolverines, joining Bryce Underwood, the five-star phenom and No. 1 overall player in the class who transferred to Michigan in November and signed with the program last week .

Two of Kirk Herbstreit’s older sons, Tye and Jake, previously played backup players at Clemson. Jake later transferred to Ohio State to “pursue other interests.” Another of Herbstreit’s sons, Zak, is an irrepressible tight end at Ohio State University, where he is in his fourth season with the program despite battling a heart problem during his college career that landed him in the hospital.
