Quentin Tarantino’s remark about Bruce Willis sparks a reaction from Joe Rogan

Filmmaker Quentin Tarantino surprised and amused podcaster Joe Rogan when he shared an anecdote about working with actor Bruce Willis in the 1990s.

Tarantino recently appeared on the podcast The Joe Rogan Experiencealong with fellow filmmaker Roger Avary, with whom he worked on the classic 1994 film pulp Fictionwith, among others, Willis, Samuel L. Jackson and Uma Thurman.

Their time on the film set was a topic of conversation as Rogan and his guests discussed various wildfires that have raged in Southern California over the years, including the devastating fire that devastated much of Malibu in 1993.

“This actually happened while we were filming pulp FictionTarantino recounted the extensive fire, prompting Rogan to respond with a surprised “Really?”

“We actually put a TV on set because Bruce Willis might lose his house…So we had a little TV area so we could watch what was going on with the fire between takes.”

About the way it was reported at the time, Tarantino said: “There were all these reports about Bruce Willis and his family standing on the roof of the house with their water hose. I say, ‘No, he’s not – he’s right here.’ !’”

The comment drew laughter from the men in the studio, in a lighthearted lull amid the heated discussion about their various experiences with the California wildfires.

After the Malibu fire in 1993, the Los Angeles Times reported that actors Sean Penn and Ali McGraw were among those whose homes were destroyed. According to the publication, Willis and his then-wife Demi Moore’s estate survived the fire “virtually unscathed,” although they reportedly lost “half” of their home.

Willis and Moore, who have three children together, announced their separation in 1998 and their divorce was finalized in 2000. Moore has supported Willis and his now-wife Emma Heming in the years since Armageddon Star was diagnosed with aphasia – a form of dementia that affects the ability to communicate.

Continue somewhere else The Joe Rogan Experiencethe titular host, who now lives in Texas, spoke about his personal experiences with the California wildfires.

“I was evacuated three times while living there,” the former said Fear factor Host Rogan told Tarantino and Avary. “I used to live in Bell Canyon and… it was rough.”

“I was really lucky,” Tarantino chimed in. “I’m almost afraid to say it because I lived in the Hollywood Hills (and) any of that lighter stuff happened, it never happened around me.”

“I’m literally standing at the top of the hill on a boulder,” he said Kill Bill Director added. “If it turns into an inferno, I’m still screwed.”

Rogan then shared, “When I was filming Fear factorI talked to this guy (from) the fire department. He said, “It’s just going to be a matter of time.” One day there will be a fire in LA, the wind will be blowing the right way and we won’t be able to stop it. It’s just going to burn all the way to the sea… It’s just a matter of time – we all know it.”

Beowulf Director Avary suggested that increased construction around the glitzy Malibu enclave has exacerbated the situation over the years.

“I grew up in California, and when I was young there were always fires burning in Malibu,” he remembers. “But now they’re putting all these houses where there were never houses before.”

He called the fires a “natural process” and said: “When you put all that kindling in there, all of a sudden you get these huge firestorms where everything just goes crazy. I think this is overdevelopment and is the cause of these crazy fires we’re getting.”

“Yeah, but it’s a cool place to live,” Rogan joked. “They will not stop people from developing in Malibu. You know, it’s just too beautiful. You just take your chances and roll the dice.”

“You take your chances and roll the dice no matter where you live,” Avary replied.
