The Las Vegas Raiders may be tired heading into Sunday’s road game against the New Orleans Saints.

“They were scheduled to fly to New Orleans late yesterday afternoon,” Fox Sports’ Peter Schrager reported. “They had mechanical problems on the plane, got on, had to get off, were late. They landed east in New Orleans just yesterday at 1 a.m. They had less than 12 hours to prepare. You’ll be taking the field in less than two hours because I didn’t sleep much and didn’t complete the team meetings in New Orleans.

While this is certainly not the season the 3-12 Raiders envisioned, they arrived in New Orleans after the delays hoping to build momentum again in the offseason.

After all, they just beat the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 16 and have a real chance to start a winning streak. The Saints are coming off a 34-0 loss to the Green Bay Packers, are also coming off a losing season, and will use Spencer Rattler at quarterback.

Las Vegas couldn’t ask for a better opportunity to win its first road game since Week 2, but the travel delays may not bode well.

The game also starts at 1:00 p.m. ET, which is 10:00 a.m. PT in Las Vegas. Players’ internal clocks certainly won’t be working throughout the day, especially after the difficult journey to New Orleans led to such a quick turnaround for the entire team.

New Orleans just kept playing Monday Night Football in Week 16, meaning this matchup is the team playing on a short week.

However, in the event of a surprising change of events, it will also be the more rested team.
