Rain and gusty winds today, flooding and damaging winds tonight | Local News

Happy Saturday everyone.

Today is a Storm alert weather day. Rain showers are expected throughout the morning, with a break in the afternoon. The current time frame for severe weather is between 10:00 p.m. EST this evening and 11:00 a.m. Sunday.

Our northeastern communities are at a slight risk of severe weather (Level 1 out of 5), while our southwestern communities are at a slight risk (Level 2 out of 5). Flash flooding, damaging winds, inch-sized hail and even tornadoes are possible as we head into the overnight hours. 1 to 2 inches of precipitation is expected.

There are areas of dense, patchy fog. Therefore, be particularly careful when driving. The fog will continue throughout the day. The high will be 62°C and the sky will be mostly cloudy. Wind gusts between 10 and 30 mph are expected during the day, with gusts up to 50 mph at night. Sustained winds will be between 5 and 10 mph today and 15 to 25 mph overnight. There will be stronger winds during thunderstorms.

It will be warmer tonight at 57°C. Storms begin around 10 p.m.

Sunday will have a high of 65° with mostly cloudy skies. The low will be cooler at 46.

There is an increased chance of showers early next week. Highs will be in the 40s starting Wednesday and lows will be in the 20s starting Thursday evening.
