Rain and wind will be followed by bitter cold overnight

Impact Days: On Monday you feel like you’re in the 20s, on Friday there’s a threat of winter weather

It feels like we’ve been talking about this for a while now, and it’s the winter storm build-up for the end of the week and heading into the weekend. AND SO NOW WE HAVE FRIDAY AND SATURDAY ARE IMPACT DAYS DUE TO THE THREAT OF WINTER WEATHER. So let’s get started. And this is also a forecast model. BUT the models agree pretty well that we will have a low pressure area to the south. AND THIS IS A CLASSIC SETUP FOR SOME WINTER WEATHER. Now, if the low moves a little further north, that tends to cause the wintry threat to move further north. As it moves further south, that brings some of that colder air, at least at the depth of the cold air, further south. AND THAT MEANS A GREATER RISK FOR SOME WINTER WEATHER. It looks to us at the moment as if it will somehow hug the coast, but the exact path to this will need to be clarified in the coming days. BUT BEFORE 11:00 AM ON FRIDAY YOU CAN FIRST SEE THAT IT VERY WELL MAY START BEFORE DAYBREAK ON FRIDAY BUT IT LOOKS LIKE WE COULD BE FREEZING WITH A WINTER MIX IN THE FORM OF SOMETHING RAIN AND EVEN SNOW. And then as we go through the day on Friday, it’s possible that many of us will just fade into a cold rain. IF TEMPERATURES CAN Climb A FEW DEGREES ABOVE FREEZING ON FRIDAY IT WILL NOT BE BY MUCH. I think we’ll stay in the 30s for most of the day, and then as we get into Friday evening into early Saturday, it’s possible we’ll see it change again before it ends at some point. WHEN THE TEMPERATURE LOWERS. So there are still a lot of details to be worked out, but it’s looking increasingly likely that we’ll have wintry weather on Friday and into Saturday morning. THIS COULD GIVE US SOME IMPACT. Just looking at the map now, the likelihood that we could see travel difficulties that might even impact power if we get some ice is highest here in this general area. SO FAYETTE, CARBON HILL, NAUVOO, JASPER OVER TOWARD WARRIOR AND ONEONTA GADSDEN THESE AREAS AND THEN CONTINUE NORTH. Light accumulations of ice or snow could occur as you approach the I-20 corridor. Therefore, impacts would be less but still possible if you reach the I-20 corridor. So we have to work out a few details again, but we’re keeping an eye on something that’s just going to be very cold by then. WE WILL BE IN THE TEENS AND LOW 20S TODAY IF OUR WIND FEEL ALL DAY TODAY. MORE OF THIS ALSO ON TUESDAY. Even Wednesday morning, lows will fall to the low 20s. BUT AT 6:00 AM WEDNESDAY there will still be enough wind that we will have wind chill values in the teens. 15 in PENDLETON, 14 in CULLMAN. AND THEN WE HAVE FRIDAY AND SATURDAY IMPACT DAYS FOR THE WINTER WEATHER THREAT. BACK T
