Rain will return to the region on Sunday night

WLKY meteorologist Eric Zernich’s forecast for Saturday evening

Changed the course of world history. It definitely felt a lot better earlier in the afternoon, especially with the sunshine as temperatures reached 50 degrees here in downtown Louisville. BUT IT WAS STILL A LITTLE AIRY. That made the air a little chilly, you’ll probably still need to bundle up if you head out to see the lights of LOUISVILLE this evening. The warming trend will be with us over the next few days, but it looks like we’ll also be watching for some rain to arrive. So we look dry for at least most of our Sunday. Once it’s Sunday night, it seems to be raining steadily. I would say once we get past 9pm it is likely that some rain will move into the region. For most of us, we can expect amounts between about half an inch and an inch. So yes, we’re expecting a good drenching of rain, especially since many of us will be sleeping outside from Sunday night into early Monday morning, even though it’s clear, calm and calm at the moment and the temperatures are still pretty mild and still are 46 degrees are DEGREES. WE REALLY DIDN’T COOL DOWN MUCH HERE. TONIGHT, AND THAT’S BECAUSE THE SOUTHWESTERN BREEZE AT NINE MILES IS HELPING TO PUSH SOMETHING WARMER AIR AND THAT’S PREVENTING US FROM COOLING DOWN. BUT IT AGAIN, PROVIDES A BIT OF WIND CHILLING, SO IT FEELS MORE LIKE THE LOWER 40S. So I’ll still need the jacket when you’re out tonight and in the first part. BUT LOOK AT THE 24 HOUR TEMPERATURE CHANGE AT THIS TIME. Last night we were almost 20 degrees colder than those 20s. SO YES, MUCH MILER IN A LARGE PART OF THE REGION. We expect stable temperatures for the rest of this evening. I don’t think we really cool down much. Maybe it stays a bit breezy at low temperatures. THESE WINDS WILL BE SOUTHWEST 10 TO 15 MPH. So I’m looking forward to your Sunday initially being in the 40s. LOTS OF SUNSHINE ALREADY BREAKING THROUGH THE MID 50S BY NOON, AND THEN WE SHOULD CLIMB INTO THE UPPER 50S. BUT IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE DAY THERE WILL ALSO BE AN INCREASE IN CLOUDS. We’re still dry by dinner time. As we approach 9:10, it begins to rain on the satellite and radar. Our high pressure has now dropped to the south and is starting to deviate a bit to the east, so we’ll get a nice southerly breeze to help bring that milder air into the region. BUT WE WILL BE WATCHING FOR THIS ACTIVITY IN LOUISIANA AND ARKANSAS. This is the rain that will come at this time tomorrow evening. So let’s take some time for you and head into the morning. Plenty of sunshine, even most of the day. LOTS OF SUNSHINE IN THE AFTERNOON, SOME LOW CLOUDS BEGIN TO APPEAR IN THE AREA. And then the rain comes. We start to get a few light showers around 9am, but in reality the rain becomes more consistent as we go to bed around 10pm, 11pm and 12pm. This continues until the early hours of the morning around 3:00 a.m. I still finish at seven. Most of it is done but we will still have some very wet roads so keep that in mind. As we head back to work on Monday, we’ll then stay on the cloudier side through the afternoon with maybe a little more rain and then a few showers into early Tuesday as far as rain is expected, like you can see About half an inch to three quarters we are VIEW OVER THE SURROUNDINGS. So just some good, much-needed rain for the region. TOMORROW 58 DEGREES, 59 DEGREES. So we continue to stay reasonably warm, with a chance of rain late Sunday into Monday. A FEW SHOWERS UNTIL TUESDAY FOR US AND THEN A SHORT COOLING OFF ON WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY AS TEMPERATURES FALL BACK INTO THE HIGH 30S. If all we needed was to warm up a bit
