Game overview

The race for the NFC West title is hot as every team is still in the running for the division title. All four franchises are separated by just two games, with Seattle narrowly defending the top spot.

While the 49ers currently sit last in the division, they managed to overcome a three-game deficit in Week 14, signaling that they are not eliminated yet. However, San Francisco faces an uphill battle and still has a lot to prove in the betting markets. The ratio has currently been 1:4 since the beginning of November.

They’ll have their hands full with the Rams pulling off one of the most impressive upsets of the year against the Bills. This is their second win in a row and against the spread from early December.

In the last meeting between these teams, in Week 3, the Rams claimed victory in a fourth-quarter comeback thriller and outscored the 49ers 13-3 in the final frame. Los Angeles got its first cover of the year in this game – the only cover in the team’s first six games.

The Rams appear to be a completely different team than the one we saw earlier this year. Since the start of November, they have the NFL’s top-rated offense (86.4), thanks in part to their success on early downs. On first and second downs during that span, the offense averaged 6.1 yards per play (third in the NFL) and made a successful play on more than 40.9% of plays (second).

That will be a problem for the 49ers’ defense, which has struggled greatly in recent weeks. During the same period, San Francisco posted the highest touchdown drive percentage (32.6%) in the NFL.

QB Brock PurdySan Francisco 49ers: Under 20.5 Rushing Yards (-113) – 6.1% PFF Edge

While Purdy is no stranger to getting started on a scramble, this rushing yardage line feels like an overreaction to numerous injuries in the Niners’ backfield. Purdy has surpassed that number in just five of his 12 starts this season, including the last matchup between these two teams where he rushed for more than 40 yards on the ground. However, his last performance above that mark came in Week 11 before suffering a shoulder injury.

After missing Week 12, Purdy didn’t start with the same enthusiasm, completing just three total scrambles for 9 yards. His injury woes extended into last week, when he took a nasty hit in the pocket that forced him to miss a snap on third down. Although the young passer is not on the injury report this week, the last thing head coach Kyle Shanahan wants to do is take out his quarterback at a crucial time to end the year. So expect a cautious approach.
