Rams head coach Sean McVay and quarterback Matthew Stafford discuss the win over the Jets and Tyler Higbee’s touchdown in Week 16

“It’s as exciting as I’ve ever seen a team be, one guy being able to do what (Higbee) did, and it’s been a really long journey back, there’s been a lot of guys “We were so happy for him because of him.” what he meant to them as a teammate and, more importantly, as a person. -McVay

Higbee’s touchdown to put the Rams in a corner in the fourth quarter was an acrobatic leap from the veteran tight end on his first catch since last season. McVay said that Higbee is “the guy who has made this game really good for our offense over the last couple of years,” so it was only fitting that this was his welcome moment.

McVay said: “There really weren’t any explosive plays on either side, and I think that’s what helped the game gain momentum.” This once again showed the team that they can find ways to win all sorts of games. Whether it’s a shootout with Buffalo or a run-heavy game in the cold, the Rams have found a way to win. They are 8-2 since the bye week and have two games remaining in the regular season.

The defense allowed just 75 rushing yards but 246 net passing yards, and that made the game-winning muffed punt all the more significant: “I love the way our special teams responded,” McVay said. “I thought it was really cool for (Jordan Whittington) to be able to kind of force his position in coverage. They muffle the punt, it recovers at the end, and so we don’t even have to be out there with two-minute defense.”

“That’s what it’s all about, finding ways to win football games. (Are there) things that need to be cleaned up? In any case. I don’t want to turn the ball over, some missed opportunities, we went back a few times (when) we had good field position, but overall my team’s win was really good. – Stafford

Williams had more rush attempts than Stafford passed, and he said, “He’s great, every time he steps on the field he’s a guy that loves to compete.” And he did that on Sunday with another strong one Performance by the offensive line, which did not allow a single tackle resulting in a loss or a sack against the Jets.

Stafford said he was “so happy to have Higbee back out there and the team was over the moon when he scored.” He added that he “didn’t know if he was going to score (because it was). pretty far out when he first caught it) but it did a damn good job of getting in.”
