Rams Rooting Guide for Week 15

Rams Rooting Guide for Week 15

The Los Angeles Rams are one game out of the NFC West lead and the final wild card spot in the NFC. Who should fans be rooting for on Sunday?

The Seattle Seahawks play the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football. A Packers win would give the Rams first place in the division and third place in the NFC playoffs. The Packers have a better record than any team Seattle has beaten all season, and the Seahawks have only beaten one winning team this year (Broncos in Week 1).

A Seahawks win would also open the door to a second wild card spot.

The Rams can also compete for a wild card and there are two interesting games in that regard, including Sunday Night Football:

If the Seahawks win, Green Bay falls to 9-5 and the Packers would be one game ahead of LA for the second wild card.

The Washington Commanders hold the last wild card at 8:5. The Commanders led the Saints 7-0 in the second quarter of their game on Sunday morning.

If the Commanders lose, they will fall to 8-6, and while their conference record will still see them hold the lead over the Rams, it gives L.A. hope they can overtake Washington next week; The Commanders will close out their season against the Eagles, Falcons and Cowboys.

The Packers beat the Rams in Week 5, so unless there is a three-way tie for two wild card spots, the Rams would have to edge Green Bay by one game to take the lead. Then a head-to-head race might not matter. The Packers travel to Seattle to finish the season against the Saints, Vikings and Bears.

Rooting instructions:

  • Thumbs up the Seahawks LOSE
  • Root for the commanders to LOSE
  • If the Seahawks win, hope the Packers (and Seahawks) LOSE next week
  • Root for Bucs to lose Chargers

The Rams currently hold a one-game lead over the 6-7 Falcons and 6-7 Cardinals, so it would be LA’s job if those teams suffered another loss and fell further behind. The Falcons are one game behind the Bucs for the lead in the NFC South. So if the Bucs lose and the Falcons win, the NFC South will be tied again. Either way, the more losses the NFC South winner has, the more certain it is that the Rams will get the No. 3 seed IF they win the NFC West.

This is important not only for the first round, but also for the second round if the Rams go that far. The Rams want to try to avoid the No. 1 pick for as long as possible, and that may leave a chance for the No. 3 pick host a divisional round game.
