Rams take 1st place in the NFC West with the Seahawks’ loss

There is a new team at the top of the NFC West standings. The Los Angeles Rams, who were 1-4 after five games, are now the league leaders with three weeks to go.

The Rams defeated the San Francisco 49ers 12-6 on Thursday night to improve their record to 8-6. The Green Bay Packers then provided Los Angeles with a big assist by defeating the Seattle Seahawks 30-13 on Sunday night.

The loss dropped the Seahawks to 8-6, and since the Rams beat them earlier this season, they have the direct tiebreaker against Seattle. That means the Rams are in full control of the division with three weeks to go.

If they win, they are NFC West champions.

Currently, the Rams are the No. 4 seed in the conference, with the Buccaneers in third place thanks to a tiebreaker over the Rams.

The key game that could decide the division comes in Week 18 when the Rams host the Seahawks at SoFi Stadium. If Seattle wins this game and ends in a tie with the Rams, it could come down to victory.

The Rams’ final three games are on the road against the Jets and at home against the Cardinals and Seahawks, all winnable games.

Here are the updated standings after Week 15.

  1. Rams: 8-6
  2. Seahawks: 8-6
  3. Cardinals: 7-7
  4. 49ers: 6-8
