Randy Moss asks for prayers after sharing his health update

Randy Moss didn’t want to cause any confusion.

The Hall of Fame wide receiver and current ESPN analyst revealed at the start of “Sunday NFL Countdown” that he was “struggling with something internally” and that he may have to wear sunglasses during the show.

“I just wanted to let the viewers know that me and my wife, me and my family, we’re struggling with something internally,” Moss said, while also posting a video with a similar message on Instagram. “I have some great doctors around me. I couldn’t miss the show. I wanted to be here with you. I feel great.

“But when you all see me with these Michigan turnover glasses that I have on, that’s no disrespect because I’m on TV, man. I’m fighting something. I need all the prayer warriors.”

While Moss didn’t reveal what specifically he’s struggling with, he encouraged people in the Instagram video to “get checked out and get blood work done” – adding that it happened “during the holiday week.”

After Moss finished talking about sunglasses, host Mike Greenberg, former quarterback Alex Smith, former head coach Rex Ryan and former linebacker Tedy Bruschi all pulled out their glasses at the same time to wear alongside Moss, while NFL Insider Adam Schefter – standing next to him – main set in the studio – did the same when he released his first update.

Schefter, a Michigan graduate, joked that the glasses looked like the ones the Wolverines’ defenders wear after forcing turnovers, Moss said in his Instagram video.

“All for one and one for all,” Greenberg said as he pushed his glasses down his face. “If he wears glasses, we all wear glasses today.”

In his 14-year career, which ended after the 2012 season, Moss made six Pro Bowls and eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards in a season 10 times.

After retiring, he worked for Fox Sports before moving to ESPN in 2016, where he is now a permanent member of the Sunday NFL Countdown crew.

In 2018, Moss was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility.
