Raptors star Scottie Barnes is leaving the Knicks early due to an ankle injury following a collision with Karl-Anthony Towns

Toronto Raptors star Scottie Barnes apparently suffered a foot injury in Monday night’s 113-108 loss to the New York Knicks.

In the third quarter of the game at Scotiabank Arena, Barnes tried to block Karl-Anthony Towns from behind at the rim. Barnes was called for a foul during the game and awkwardly collided with Towns as he came onto the court.

Both Barnes and Towns fell after their collision and Barnes immediately grabbed his right foot. Apparently, Barnes was in significant pain and was seen telling trainers that he could not feel his foot while sitting on the field.

He was helped up and hopped off the field into the locker room without putting any weight on his foot.

Barnes finished the game with 15 points, five rebounds and three assists in 23 minutes. The team ruled him out with an ankle sprain, but further details about his injury are not yet available.

Barnes entered Monday’s game averaging 21 points, 8.7 rebounds and 7.8 assists per game. The former Rookie of the Year missed several weeks earlier this season after suffering a fractured eye socket in October after being shot in the face by Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokić.

Although the game was close throughout and RJ Barrett tied it with about 45 seconds left, the Knicks ended the night with a 5-0 run to secure the win. Towns led the way with 24 points and 15 rebounds, and Jalen Brunson – who briefly left the game after rolling his ankle on a fan’s foot on the sideline – added 20 points and 11 assists. The win, their fifth in the last six games, moved the Knicks to 15-9 on the season.

Barrett led the Raptors with 30 points and eight rebounds in the loss, which dropped them to 7-18 overall. Jakob Poeltl added 10 points and 12 rebounds and Ja’Kobe Walter finished the game with 19 points off the bench.

It’s unclear how long Barnes will be sidelined with his recent injury. The Raptors only have a single game next week – a match against the Miami Heat in South Florida on Thursday – so Barnes may have the opportunity to miss minimal playing time.
