Ravens-Chargers Open Thread: Jim & John Harbaugh at the Harbowl

The misery of NFL Week 12 for the San Francisco 49ers ends tonight with some nostalgia. The Baltimore Ravens travel across the country to play the Los Angeles Chargers. 49ers fans know this as “Harbowl,” the third game we see. However, in this sequel, Jim Harbaugh plays for the Chargers in Southern California and not his first two losses as 49ers coach.

Both teams have seven wins. The Chargers are reminiscent of when Harbaugh coached the 49ers, with that gritty, smash-mouth style and finding ways to win. The problem is that her schedule isn’t exactly the most difficult. The only team they have beaten with a winning record is the Denver Broncos.

On the other hand, the Ravens have picked up wins against the likes of the Buffalo Bills and the Washington Commanders. They also suffered losses to the Las Vegas Raiders and Cleveland Browns. It’s hard to tell which team the Ravens have, but with Lamar Jackson at quarterback, you know they’re a threat in the postseason.

As previously mentioned, John Harbaugh won both contests at the Harbowl against his brother. The first was at a Thanksgiving game in Baltimore. The second was Super Bowl XLVII, where the 49ers lost at the very end. Jim is on a different team now, so he may have an advantage over his brother.

FanDuel Sportsbook has the Ravens ahead by 3 points. Given John Harbaugh’s history of outdoing his brother, I’ll take the Chargers and the points, but the Ravens come through. The Chargers stay close, but the Ravens have the edge. The over-under value is 50.5. Take the image below. I don’t have a good feeling about this, but Ravens games usually get wild, and this game will be darker than some realize.

At this point in the 49ers season, I’m in the mood to say, “Football is a silly sport,” but this matchup still fascinates me.
