Ravens Pro Bowler suspended after ‘refusing’ to play against Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles earned their eighth straight win last Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens.

It was a high-octane contest between two of the National Football League’s top Super Bowl contenders. Philadelphia emerged victorious, defeating Baltimore 24-19. The Eagles got off to a slow start again, but the offense eventually took over, led by Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley and AJ Brown.

It was an unfortunate weekend for the Ravens for several reasons. The Ravens were obviously hoping for a win. Baltimore sits in second place in the AFC North, behind the rival Pittsburgh Steelers.

Baltimore couldn’t prevail and now one of its receivers is suspended. The Ravens announced that recently signed pass catcher Diontae Johnson will be suspended for “conduct detrimental to the team.” Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta also released a statement saying Johnson refused to play in the game against Philadelphia.

“We have made the difficult decision to suspend Diontae Johnson for our upcoming game against the New York Giants for conduct detrimental to the team,” DeCosta said. “Diontae’s suspension is due to his refusal to attend our game against the Philadelphia Eagles. We will have no further comment on this matter in the future.”

Philadelphia walked away with the win and the Ravens clearly have more to their name than just a loss. This will be interesting to watch as the season progresses.
