The Portuguese watched as his team, a little slow in front of goals, took control of the game in the first half but were left 1-0 down by a Bournemouth set-piece goal.

The Red Devils pushed for an equalizer at half-time but were beaten twice thanks to further errors as a penalty from Justin Kluivert and a team goal from Antoine Semenyo made it 3-0 with just over half an hour to play in Manchester.

First impressions of the loss: “It’s hard to push for two or three wins and we’re trying, but this game was tough for us. Without conceding any goals, we again suffered from set pieces. We were a bit nervous, I could feel that in the stadium. We controlled the rest of the first half but conceded a goal. In the second half we tried to score but in the end it was a tough game in a tough situation so let’s keep going.”

How the game went from 0-0 to 3-0: “In the end you can see different things, but if you look at the game, we didn’t concede a goal before the first goal, then we had a lot of opportunities. If we managed to score, it should be different.” Everything is difficult for us at this moment. The standards, the penalty, then we are too nervous and have to fight. … We have to control the game better because we already know it will be difficult. We need to control these moments better.”
