The red card could have resulted in a four-match ban for the Brazilian, perhaps even longer, if it had been deemed an aggressive act under Article 103, which is dedicated to aggression. However, after speaking to association sources, Marca have reported that it will likely be a two-league ban.

If Vinicius gets what is reported, he will be able to play in the semi-finals of the Spanish Super Cup on Thursday January 9th and in the final on Sunday January 12th if they beat Mallorca.

Real Madrid will face Deportiva Minera for the first time in the round of 32 of the Copa del Rey on January 6th. Vinicius Jr. could be in this game, especially if the verdict isn’t confirmed before Monday.

Carlo Ancelotti was able to rest most of his first team players for the game against a team from Spain’s Segunda Federación Division – Group 4. Vinicius Jr. could be among the rested if he could play in the Spanish Super Cup three days later.

Ancelotti also did not rule out an appeal against the red card, which he spoke about in his press conference. If this is the case and the appeal is successful, his red card will likely be withdrawn and he will not miss a game. However, there is a good chance that the two-game ban will remain in place for the Brazilians.
