The Spaniards struggled to create clear-cut chances in the first half until their first shot on goal found the net in the 37th minute. The wait for the goal was also worth it, as Real Madrid’s starting trio demonstrated their skills and provided a moment of class. Jude Bellingham passed the ball to Vinicius Jr., who skilfully rounded the goalkeeper and fed Kylian Mbappe to score on his return to the team.

Madrid were not yet out of second gear when they made it 2-0 at the start of the second period, with Mbappé providing the assist. The Frenchman found Rodrygo, who switched to his left foot and then his right foot before firing a great shot past Carlos Moreno.

So a successful trip to Qatar for Madrid, who secured victory thanks to Vinicius’ late penalty, and a triumphant return to the Lusail Stadium for Mbappe on the second anniversary of France’s painful World Cup final against Argentina.
