Red Sox acquire Garrett Crochet; The White Sox return is highlighted by Kyle Teel

DALLAS – Garrett Crochet, one of the most sought-after starters in baseball, is joining the Boston Red Sox.

According to league sources, the Red Sox traded four prospects, including top catcher Kyle Teel, 2024 first-rounder Braden Montgomery, right-hander Wikelman Gonzalez and infielder Chase Meidroth, to the White Sox for Crochet.

The 25-year-old Crochet was one of the most coveted weapons on the trade market and the White Sox wouldn’t part ways without a significant youth package.

Crochet posted a 3.58 ERA in 32 starts for the White Sox last season. He has two years left to maintain control of the team before entering free agency after the 2026 season.

Boston, in desperate need of a No. 1 starter, missed Max Fried on Tuesday after he signed with the Yankees and moved to Crochet to supplement their rotation, although not without losing one of their top four prospects in Teel.
