Regents meeting produces 'plan,' not action, on Oklahoma State football

STILLWATER – The Oklahoma A&M College Board of Regents met for just over two hours Friday morning to discuss the hiring of Oklahoma State’s football coaching staff – with much of the focus on head coach Mike Gundy – but the board meeting ended without one measures were taken.

“We have a plan,” Board Chairman Jimmy Harrel told the media as he left the meeting room. “As soon as we have it finalized, we will let you know.”

Harrel declined to add further details about what was discussed in the two-hour meeting in the OSU student union.

No other regents spoke to the media, nor did OSU President Kayse Shrum or athletic director Chad Weiberg, both of whom were called in about 45 minutes into the board meeting.

They left the meeting just before the end of the board meeting and the meeting was adjourned.

OSU fired offensive coordinator Kasey Dunn and defensive coordinator Bryan Nardo on Wednesday, but Friday’s special meeting was scheduled around the same time “to review ratings/evaluations and other information relevant to the employment of the Oklahoma State University football staff.” “.

Although no one specifically mentioned it, it was understood that the focus of the meeting was on Gundy and his contract status after a 3-9 season, the problems of which were exacerbated by Gundy’s comments about dissatisfied fans.
