A winter storm arrived Friday morning that could bring rain and snow to Reno-Sparks, with significant snowfall expected in the Sierra.

According to the National Weather Service in Reno, the Truckee Meadows is forecast to reach a high of 47 degrees, with snow or rain expected this afternoon.

A wind warning comes into effect at 10pm this evening and lasts until 4pm Saturday. Rain is also expected in the valley floor on Saturday, but snow is possible in the foothills.

A winter storm warning goes into effect for the Tahoe area starting at 1 p.m., with over 2 feet of snow expected in parts of the Sierra.
