Rep. DeLauro rails against “President” Musk after Republicans abandon bipartisan funding deal

WASHINGTON DC (WFSB) – Connecticut Third District Rep. Rosa DeLauro responded with sharp remarks to the failure of a funding bill aimed at keeping the government running.

The US House of Representatives rejected a plan supported by President-elect Donald Trump.

Democrats and dozens of Republicans said they refused to comply with Trump’s sudden demands.

“The American public has demanded that this body, Democrats and Republicans on the other side, work together to do what is in the best interests of the American people,” DeLauro said in a statement Thursday evening.

DeLauro said they worked hard over the last few weeks and actually agreed to a deal.

“And you know what? They got scared because “President” Musk told them: “President” Musk said, “Don’t do it.” Don’t do it. “Shut down the government,” DeLauro shouted in the House of Representatives. “Imagine! What does he know about what people go through when the government shuts down? Are his employees furloughed? Hell no. Is he furloughed? NO.”

House Speaker Mike Johnson said they would regroup and find another solution.

The deadline is midnight on Saturday.
