Report: Clemson football welcomes Big Ten transfer Will Heldt

According to an ESPN report, Clemson will soon be home to a Big Ten defensive lineman.

ESPN college football insider Pete Thamel says Purdue edge defender Will Heldt will visit “in the coming days.” Heldt has two seasons of college eligibility remaining.

ESPN has Heldt (6-6, 265) as the No. 30 overall transfer candidate:

Background: Purdue produced one of the top edge rushers in the portal in Nic Scourton last offseason, and now it looks like Heldt is next. The young rush end racked up 56 tackles, 16 pressures, 10 TFLs and 5 sacks while starting every game as a sophomore for the struggling Boilermakers. The former three-star recruit has plenty of room to grow, has flashed exciting potential and will soon be attending LSU and Texas A&M.

Scouts Opinion: Heldt is an intriguing starter with his ability to pressure the quarterback. He is an edge player with good initial speed and a solid bend to advance upfield and disrupt. He has developed as expected and his ceiling may not be much higher, but with his length, start and current experience he brings a lot of value. — Tucker

According to 247Sports, Heldt is ranked as the No. 7 EDGE defenseman in the transfer portal.

Heldt visited LSU this week and is also reportedly scheduled to attend Texas A&M.

He announced a portal entry last Friday.
