Rhea Ripley defeated Liv Morgan to win the World Women’s Championship on the first episode of WWE Raw on Netflix on Monday night.

Morgan went all out to defeat Ripley, almost securing victory with a Frog Splash after giving him a relentless beating. However, Ripley struck out just before the three-pointer.

After that, it was only Ripley who retaliated with consecutive Riptides, knocking out Morgan and securing the win via pinfall.

After the match, “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio came up to Ripley to hug him. Feigning acceptance, Ripley performed a low blow kick followed by a riptide before triumphantly exiting the stage. Moments later, Undertaker rode his motorcycle into the arena and celebrated with Ripley in dramatic fashion.

Monday’s fight was a long time coming, as it was the third women’s world title fight between Morgan and Ripley since the summer.

Shortly after WrestleMania 40 last year, Ripley suffered a shoulder injury due to an attack by Morgan, forcing her to vacate the Women’s World Championship. Morgan won the title during Ripley’s absence and also began courting Rhea’s boyfriend in “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio.

Dominik claimed that he was still with Ripley when she returned from her injury, but he turned his back on Rhea at SummerSlam by helping Liv beat her and retain the title.

Ripley was given another title shot at Bad Blood in October, with the added stipulation that Dom was suspended in mid-air in a shark cage so he couldn’t interfere.

Just when it looked like Ripley would regain the title, Raquel Rodriguez returned after a lengthy absence by joining Morgan and attacking Rhea, resulting in a disqualification.

Morgan and Rodriguez made life difficult for Ripley in the following weeks, even attacking her in the NXT parking lot and forcing her to miss time with an orbital injury.

Rhea returned in time for Survivor Series, leading a team against a Morgan-led squad in a WarGames match, which Ripley and company won.

This victory gave Ripley another shot at the championship and resulted in arguably the greatest Raw episode in history.

Ripley ultimately defeated Morgan on Raw, but it’s fair to wonder if Morgan could get a shot at regaining the title in Saturday Night’s Main Event or the Royal Rumble.
