‘RHOBH’ star Jennifer Tilly reveals she’s prepared for life after divorcing ‘The Simpsons’ co-creator Sam Simon

Jennifer Tilly’s marriage didn’t work out, but at least the divorce served her well.

The December 3rd episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills The series’ newcomer and Oscar nominee offered insight into her 1991 divorce — and the lasting impact it had on her life.

Along with co-creators Matt Groening and James L. Brooks, Simon played a critical role in the settlement and development of the fictional town of Springfield The Simpsons‘unique tone and sense of humor. He ultimately left the series in 1993, four seasons later, due to creative differences with Groening – but retained his title as executive producer and received royalties when the show entered syndication, thereby earning profits from VHS and DVD sales.

Despite their divorce, Tilly remained close with Simon until his death in 2015, after a short battle with colon cancer.

Aside from the settlement, Tilly has amassed her own fortune as a popular character actress, known for her starring role in the Wachowskis-directed thriller Bound and a comedy directed by Woody Allen, Balls over Broadway. The latter role earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress. However, Tilly is best known for her portrayal of serial killer Tiffany Valentine in the 1998s Bride of Chucky, and has since reprized the role in additional franchise pieces: Seeds of Chucky, Curse of Chucky, Cult of Chuckyand the TV series Chuckywhich was canceled in September after three seasons.

The actress has also made a name for herself as a professional poker player, with total earnings of over $1 million from tournament winnings in 2019.

As for her RHOBH In her career, Tilly previously appeared on the show as Sutton Stracke’s friend, but this season marks her first time as an official cast member. Ahead of the season premiere, the Oscar nominee revealed that she was a longtime “superfan” of the series and was looking forward to seeing “Beverly Hills through the lens of really rich people.”

But she soon discovered that the Real Housewives Glamor wasn’t all that mattered.

“I thought I would see a lot of people shopping on Rodeo Drive, but a lot of the filming takes place in the Valley, in places where it’s easier to get permits,” the actress shared. “So it’s not like you go to the fanciest bars in Beverly Hills and argue. They usually fight somewhere outside of Beverly Hills because the really fancy, elite places don’t want housewives yelling at each other in the dining room.”
