Rival coach gives startling response to illegal attack on Jaguars star

Most of the sports world agreed when Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence suffered a concussion on Sunday as a result of an illegal hit by Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shair: There is no place for this type of hit in sports.

Well, except for DeMeco Ryans, the head coach of the Houston Texans.

Ryans offered his support to Al-Shair on Monday, which is far from unusual. A head coach is supposed to defend his boys. But Ryans went a step further and even suggested that Lawrence and the Jaguars were responsible for the situation and the resulting chaos.

“We stand behind Azeez and everything you know that comes from it. Of course, unfortunately he hit the quarterback. But it’s also split in two, right?” Ryans said.

“I mean, a lot of quarterbacks these days try to take advantage of the rule that they slip late and try to get an extra yard, and now you’re a defender with a lot of responsibility on the defender, right? Whether on the sidelines or at quarterback, you don’t know what a man is thinking. You don’t know if a man will get up and keep running. And then you get a late slip and hit the guy. I hope Trevor is okay, but if we slip, we have to go out Go out, we come out of the field and this rule is to protect the quarterbacks and want our quarterbacks to be safe in the league and we slip, put sure we’re safe We keep our heads down So.”

In addition to blaming Lawrence for the hit and his resulting injury, Ryans also pointed the finger directly at the Jaguars squad for the post-hit altercation on the Jaguars sideline.

“And the whole thing is, you know, Azeez is the guy, but their sideline overreacts and a scuffle breaks out. It wasn’t our guys, it’s their team,” Ryans said. “We overreacted, pushed our player and dragged him to the sideline. So this is inappropriate on this site. We also have to be better on the sidelines, with both teams.”

It’s safe to say that there will be no romantic relationships between the two teams in the future. The Jaguars’ quarterback suffered a horrific injury due to an illegal hit and his team reacted like most, including how the Texans would react if the roles were reversed.

Still, Ryans seems to think the Texans are the victims in this situation and the problem lies entirely with the Jaguars and their injured quarterback.
