The Ducks have four players on the All-America Bowl squad, which is a good number. Such a performance would be expected from the team that completed the early signing period with the best recruiting class. But the number of signers is not the reason I chose Oregon for this question.

The program is currently incredibly popular with elite prospects. When the 2025 candidates were asked which program ranked second to them, the Ducks were the team with the most answers. While that’s impressive, so is how many different 2026 players we spoke to at Media Day that Oregon had in their top groups. Even if the Ducks weren’t already one of their favorites, they apparently still wanted to travel to Oregon to see what it was like.

trainer Dan Lanning does a great job recruiting and getting players interested in his program. The program is also the favorite to win the College Football Playoff this year. It’s good to be a Duck now, and there’s no shortage of top prospects ready to join the program.

JOHN GARCIA JR.: FLORIDA

The numbers speak here, as Florida begins the week with the most future roster members making the All-American squad with seven, including six signees Billy Napier and companies. It is the largest of any program in the country and in some ways reflects the red-hot November and December the program had on the recruiting trail after the government doubled the size of Napier’s staff as surprise victories piled up.

It certainly features some of UF’s oldest commitments, such as veteran recruit Vernell Brown III and quarterback Will Griffin, but also many others who seemed like other options could have closed out their recruitments. Running back Byron Louis was committed to Florida State, linebacker Ty Jackson was on board at USC, defensive end Jalen Wiggins made a late trip to Notre Dame and of course the most recent addition, Dallas Wilson, was committed to Oregon for almost two years.

The younger recruits in attendance, even beyond Griffin, also generated a lot of interest in the Gators.

No. 1 athlete Derrek Cooper was Florida’s top contender, as was elite tight end Kaden Prothro. Linebacker Izayia Williams grew up a fan and has the program at the top of his list. The same applies to the four stars Simeon Caldwell, KJ Ford and Zech Fort, who are scheduled to sign in February.

Almost everywhere you looked on Sunday’s media day there was a top commitment or target for Florida.
