Rodrygo returns from injury for Real Madrid against Getafe

Real Madrid will be given a boost by Rodrygo’s return from injury for Sunday’s La Liga game against Getafe.

The 23-year-old Brazil international has been sidelined since suffering a muscle injury in the 4-0 win over Osasuna on November 9.

He missed the club’s last two games as well as Brazil’s World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Uruguay during the international break.

The striker trained with the group ahead of Sunday’s meeting at the Santiago Bernabeu with the club’s Madrid neighbors. Carlo Ancelotti confirmed he will be part of the matchday squad.

Rodrygo’s return is a positive development as the team is currently struggling with a number of injury problems.

Eduardo Camavinga has been ruled out for the next three weeks after suffering a hamstring injury in Wednesday’s Champions League defeat to Liverpool.

Eder Militao and Dani Carvajal are already out with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries, while David Alaba is still recovering from his own cruciate ligament tear.

Aurelien Tchouameni is currently out with an ankle injury, while Vinicius Junior suffered a hamstring injury this week that is likely to keep him out until mid-December.

“Rodrygo will be back tomorrow,” Ancelotti said at a press conference on Saturday. “Next game Tchouameni will be back, soon Vinicius will be back, soon Alaba will be back.”

Before his injury, Rodrygo played in 15 games for Madrid across all competitions this season, scoring three goals and providing two assists.

Madrid are in second place in the La Liga table, four points behind rivals Barcelona, who have played a game more.
