Romeo Doubs shows off his hands during a two-touchdown performance

SEATTLE – There’s a reason Josh Jacobs likes to call Romeo Doubs “Spider-Man.”

The Packers’ third-year receiver proved once again that he is worthy of the nickname bestowed on him by his running back when he scored a game-winning 22-yard touchdown miss to put the Seattle Seahawks up 30 on Sunday night at Lumen Field :13 to defeat.

From a distance, it looked like Doubs’ three-and-two grab in the back of the end zone was almost out of bounds, but replay showed that he not only had both feet on the ground, but a shoulder to boot .

It was a crucial play for Green Bay’s offense, which got off to a fast start but fumbled twice in the second half, turning the ball over on downs and losing a fumble before Doubs scored.

“This is Rome,” Jacobs said. “That guy’s a bastard, man. His hands, the way he does it. It’s just crazy. I called him ‘Spider-Man’ earlier this week because I feel like he’ll grab the ball if he’s anywhere near him. catch it.”

It was one of two touchdowns Doubs scored in his first game back after missing two games due to a concussion against San Francisco.

The first came on Green Bay’s second drive, when the 6-foot-1, 220-pound receiver broke through two Seattle defenders for a 13-yard touchdown.

That gave the Packers a 14-0 lead after the first quarter and marked the first time since Week 13 of last season against Kansas City that Green Bay scored touchdowns on its first two possessions.

When asked if he thought he could score on the play after intercepting Jordan Love’s slant shot at the 5-yard line, Doubs said he had no doubt he could do it.

“We were close enough to the end zone,” Doubs said. “We had a play that wasn’t really designed for coverage. But sometimes you just have to play ball, and in the end I was able to do that and put points on the board.”

After sitting out two games due to the concussion, Doubs decided to wear a protective Guardian cap in his return game to “play it safe.” He hasn’t decided yet whether he will continue to do so in the future.

Doubs finished the game with three catches for 40 yards and two scores. Coincidentally, all four of Doubs’ touchdowns this season came in two games, with the third-year wideout scoring twice in a 34-13 win over Arizona in Week 6.

When asked which was his favorite on Sunday, Doubs said he was just thrilled with the Packers’ offense, which has now scored 30 or more points in four straight games.

“I was just happy that we scored points,” said Doubs. “I wasn’t really proud of anything. I’m just glad we got the team win.”
