Rumor Roundup: Hulk Hogan on Raw, Lynch vs. Ripley, SmackDown Focus, more!

Speculating about the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favorite pastime for many fans, perhaps even more important than watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors from the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Rumors for this day:

  • According to Dr. Chris Featherstone will star as Hulk Hogan in the series Raw in the Netflix premiere episode. There was also apparently talk of an appearance by Stone Cold Steve Austin, but “that was scrapped.”
  • Speaking of Hogan, Fightful Select notes that there have been discussions within WWE about bringing him in for some upcoming appearances. This obviously seems to be one of them.
  • We can “expect a rematch between Becky Lynch and Rhea Ripley very soon,” says Ibou of WrestlePurists.
  • A major focus of WWE for Smack down Right now it’s about “showcasing more untapped talent” as it’s a three-hour program, says Dr. Chris Featherstone. Blair Davenport’s name was apparently mentioned.
  • He also says that Tiffany Stratton is not listed as a babyface on WWE’s internal roster, so she will be a support as she begins her run as women’s champion.
  • PW Insider was told that Gabe Sapolsky “signed a new contract with WWE late last year.” He has “previously overseen the WWE ID brand” and is reportedly “responsible for creativity” for WWE’s potential revival of Evolve.

  • According to The Observer, there has been a “shocking spike” in late buys on traditional pay-per-view offerings Survivor Series 2024 in the last weeks of December. Most of these late-night purchases came from rural areas. As a result, Survivor Series became the second most purchased WWE event on traditional pay-per-view in 2024, coming in just behind WrestleMania 40.
  • The Costco Guys told Cultaholic that Big Boom AJ plans to return to the ring with AEW revolution 2025 pay-per-view in March.
