Rush to impending free agency, absence of CeeDee Lamb vs. Eagles

As previously mentioned, the offense has definitely evolved in the last month or so, due in large part to the influence of Rico Dowdle, who is nearing his first 1,000-yard season of his career, and CeeDee Lamb, who is getting a suffered a painful shoulder injury and continues to break records for the Cowboys.

But with Lamb now shut down for the remainder of the season as a precautionary measure for 2025, Rush and the depth at receiver will really be tested.

“His production (will be missed), that’s something to talk about,” Rush said. “But there are people who are ready. We have a really big receiver room with guys who can’t wait to play.”

However, it is a space that also deals with injuries to depth players, e.g. B. Jalen Tolbert’s pinky and Jalen Brooks’ knee, so the level of difficulty continues to increase for the Cowboys, but that’s nothing unusual for them at this point.

And as quiet as it is kept, Rush has now passed three opposing Heisman-winning quarterbacks in the last five weeks, and after previously defeating Joe Burrow (2022), the Cowboys’ backup is now the only player in the NFL -History, who has defeated four in his first 13 career starts.

With only two games remaining before he hits free agency again, it goes without saying that Rush will want to keep the good times going against the Philadelphia Eagles and then the Washington Commanders.

“You only have two left and that’s all you’re promised and as a replacement you go through periods where you don’t play for a while,” he said. “You cherish all these moments. You really enjoy it and, I think I’ve said it before, enjoy going out and playing. … I don’t think the future is the driver because you always have something to prove.”

“I think that applies to everyone, across the league. Normally it is the mindset of every player. Being in the NFL is enough.”

His sole focus is on what he can do against one of the league’s best defenses, the Eagles, and on their field, but it’s not as if Rush and the Cowboys’ offense hasn’t proven capable of scoring to land bold excitement on the street.
