Prime Video is starting 2025 with a bang and is adding one of the most action-packed films of the year to its catalog. The Guy casethe latest film from High speed train director David Leitchdebuts on Amazon’s streaming platform January 1stcomplete with lots of stunts, romance and Ryan Gosling for subscribers. The film is inspired by the 1980s action-adventure series Lee Majors and puts Gosling in the role of retired stuntman Colt Seavers opposite Emily Blunt as his ex-girlfriend Jody Moreno. After a serious injury derailed his career, he was called back for a job on Jody’s directorial debut with a well-known action star, played by: Aaron Taylor Johnson.

Billed as a love letter to stunt people and the underappreciated workers behind the scenes of major productions, The Guy case quickly turns into an action-packed mystery thriller when the film’s star, Tom Ryder, goes missing. Although he has only used his skills on set, Colt is tasked with tracking down Tom, retracing his steps and charging headfirst into danger to find answers and save the production. As he investigates, he finds himself caught up in a sinister conspiracy that could lead to his own downfall. It all culminates in a desperate fight to save himself, the film and his love before it’s too late.

Leitch directed his latest feature film from a screenplay written by Drew Pearcewho has also served as a co-writer on other action-heavy affairs such as Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation And Iron Man 3. How High speed trainThe film had no shortage of stars to work with. Fresh with an Oscar nomination for BarbieGosling led a cast that also included the talents of Hannah Waddingham, Teresa Palmer, Stephanie Hsu, Winston DukeAnd Ben Knightamong other things. Their combined efforts resulted in a project that was widely praised, earning an 82% critical rating and an 85% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

“The Fall Guy” has defied all streaming options

Enthusiastic reviews couldn’t be saved The Guy case but at the box office. The film failed, grossing only $181.1 million worldwide against a budget between $125 and $150 million. Despite Universal’s disappointing theatrical release, the film has now become a streaming favorite. When it debuted on Peacock in late August, it became the second most-watched film over Labor Day weekend and the most-watched premiere on the service since then Oppenheimer. Word of mouth has helped the film become a favorite with home audiences, and offers a bit of redemption for a film that made it in the first place Steven Spielberg in love during its creation.
