It’s been a big year for Ryan Seacrest, whose career highlights in 2024 included his 22nd season as host of American Idol (which will be back on TV in 2025) and takes on the role of Pat Sajak – one of the best game show hosts of all time Wheel of Fortune. The celebrations aren’t over yet, however, and on December 31st he’ll reach another big milestone – two decades as a host Dick Clark’s rockin’ New Year’s Eve. Seacrest celebrated the upcoming occasion with a social media montage, and my goodness, has it really been 20 years?

Dick Clark was a major pop culture figure as a radio host, game show host, and of course American Bandstand. Rocking New Year’s Eve is also a big part of his legacy, allowing people to watch the ball drop in Times Square in New York City since he first produced the music special in 1972. Everything changed in 2004 when Clark suffered a stroke and was no longer able to host on his own. Ryan Seacrest has been at it ever since, as you can see in the Instagram video below:

While it’s hard to remember a time when Ryan Seacrest didn’t have every single hosting job available (that’s only a slight exaggeration), it’s also pretty incredible that that was the case for two whole decades American Idol The host took us to “Auld Lang Syne”. I’m afraid when I wake up tomorrow, Pat Sajak will be gone Wheel of Fortune for six years instead of six months.

Speaking of timing that makes no sense at all: Did someone forget to start the clock on Ryan Seacrest’s aging process? I know Paul Rudd is the prime example of never aging, but how many people could you show a montage like the one above – each with a photo from the last 20 years – and have them look strikingly the same? It definitely wouldn’t work for me, that’s for sure. This guy’s courage to work all these jobs and still find time to drink from the fountain of youth!

I say that in jest, of course, because you have to respect how much work Ryan Seacrest has put in to get such prestigious positions in the entertainment industry, and it’s hard to deny that he’s one of the best at what he does . This fact has never been more obvious than at the beginning of the year when he was convincing Wheel of Fortune When he started hosting one of America’s most popular game shows, he was pretty good at reaching audiences.

One thing viewers should pay attention to as they watch the year-end festivities this year is whether and how Ryan Seacrest’s mini New Year’s feud with Andy Cohen will continue. This fall, the two hosts agreed to end their rivalry, but you never know when the excitement of the holiday might get the best of them.

If you want to watch Ryan Seacrest’s 20th year as host of Dick Clark’s rockin’ New Year’s EveTune in beginning Tuesday, December 31 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
