Sabrina Carpenter’s Christmas cookies hit just the right note

Watch out, Mariah Carey — there’s a new pop star aiming for the title of Christmas queen, and she also has her own Christmas cookie recipe. Yes, we’re talking about Sabrina Carpenter, who just wrapped up the Short n’ Sweet Tour after a chart-topping year.

This week, the pop star was back in the headlines after releasing her musical holiday special “Nonsense Christmas” on Netflix. So we think it’s time to bring back the delicious cookie recipe she posted on social media last Christmas. And no, before you even ask: it doesn’t contain espresso.

Now we know that these cookies aren’t the most groundbreaking recipe ever posted by a celebrity. However, there’s a reason the TikTok video racked up nearly 10 million views last year — any cookie studded with M&Ms is an instant classic.

That being said, please please please consider adding a batch of Carpenter’s delicious Christmas cookies to your holiday baking list this year. (Note: The deliciously fluffy sous chef is not required, but is highly recommended.) We tried them out in the Allrecipes test kitchen and learn how to make them here.

Here’s how to make Sabrina Carpenter’s viral Christmas cookies

For all intents and purposes, this is a pretty classic chocolate chip or M&M cookie, but that doesn’t make it any less delicious. According to her TikTok, Sabrina’s recipe starts with melted butter and brown sugar (although we prefer a combination of white and brown sugar), combined with a hand mixer. After the sugar and butter reach a smooth consistency, she adds the eggs.

The singer mixes the dry ingredients in another bowl. Carpenter sifts the flour and baking powder (a real pro) and then slowly adds it to the butter and sugar mixture. Then she adds semi-sweet chocolate chips and red and green holiday M&Ms—which Sabrina suspects, so throw in as many as your sweet tooth desires. If you want, you can also add mini M&Ms or add some green food coloring to turn them into Grinch cookies.

The baked cookies are soft, chewy and irresistible. Trust us, the delicious taste of this dessert will leave an “impressive impression”. So preheat your oven, turn on Netflix, and whip up a batch of these cookies that Nicole McLaughlin, senior producer at Allrecipes, calls “damn good.”

  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1-1 1/4 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 3/4-1 cup red and green M&M’s
  1. In a large bowl, beat the butter and both types of sugar with a hand mixer until smooth and thick. Add the eggs one at a time, stirring occasionally and then mixing in the vanilla.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt, then gradually add the flour mixture to the sugar mixture until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips and M&Ms and refrigerate the mixture for 30 minutes.
  3. Scoop tablespoons of dough and roll into balls. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees F for about 10 minutes, or until the edges are just browned. Let cool on pan for 3 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
