This was a sequel to the sitcom Boy meets worldwhich catapulted Danielle to fame in the ’90s.

Danielle is 18 years older than Sabrina and called her co-star “the closest thing to a daughter I’ll ever have” in a sweet Instagram post in 2022.

In fact, Sabrina was one of Danielle’s bridesmaids at her wedding to Jensen Karp in 2018, and when she was pregnant with her and Jensen’s first son Adler in 2019, Danielle revealed that Sabrina would be known as her children’s “aunt.”

Through it all, Danielle has been Sabrina’s biggest cheerleader when it comes to her music career, which only really broke into the mainstream this year thanks to her hits like “Espresso” and “Please Please Please.”

And she reiterated this in a new article for Entertainment Weekly after the outlet named Sabrina one of its 2024 Entertainers of the Year.

At the start of the article, Danielle said that she is often asked if she can “believe” Sabrina’s “meteoric rise” in recent months, and the mother of two added: “My honest answer will always be ‘yes.’

As Danielle reflected on Sabrina’s impressive work ethic and talent, she then made a confession that highlights how well the singer knows her craft.

“Your instincts are unbeatable,” Danielle wrote. “I once told her that I didn’t think a song should make it onto her 2022 album. Emails I can’t send. I thought it wasn’t understandable enough and she politely told me I was wrong.”

“When I heard 20,000 fans at the Crypto.com Arena singing every word to that very song last November, I knew she was right. “She’s always right,” Danielle continued.

The star didn’t name which of Sabrina’s songs she stopped from releasing, citing eight songs out of it Emails I can’t send be contained on it Short and sweet Tour setlist.

In case you’re wondering: They are “Tornado Warnings”, “Decode”, “Fast Times”, “Read Your Mind”, “Because I Liked A Boy”, “Nonsense”, “Opposite” and “Feather” – with the last ones Both were only included on the deluxe release of the album.

All of these songs are huge fan favorites, with “Because I Liked A Boy,” “Feather,” and “Nonsense” being particularly popular among both Sabrina’s fan base and the mainstream.

Interestingly, Sabrina previously revealed that she almost didn’t include “Nonsense” on this album – suggesting she was worried it wouldn’t “resonate with people”.

To illustrate, “Nonsense” was the breakout song that arguably paved the way for Sabrina’s sudden rise this year.

In an interview with Interview magazine in February, she said: “Sometimes I’m unsure about pop music and the fact that it doesn’t always resonate with people. So it was very special for me to have the experience that (nonsense) has a life of its own, maybe because.” It felt like it was the closest thing to my real personality, as silly as that may sound.

“I was at a really, really low point in my life about two years ago, so I’ve written very few upbeat love songs,” Sabrina added. “(Nonsense) always stood out, but I felt like it might discredit some of the songs on the album that dealt with more sensitive topics, so it almost didn’t make it.”

“People used to tell me that my music had no symmetry, that not every song sounded the same, and that’s what came to mind,” she concluded. “That’s why I’m grateful because the fans decided for themselves that it meant something to them.”

And Sabrina had a similar experience with her hit “Espresso,” considered by many to be the anthem of 2024.

Speaking to Variety earlier this year, she said that she was “completely alone in wanting to release ‘Espresso,’ adding: “Not so much from my immediate team, but when it came to the ‘powers above.’ “

“There were a lot of questions about whether it made sense,” she explained. “In the end they trusted me and I was happy that I believed in myself in that moment.”

And Island Records co-CEO Imran Majid echoed Danielle’s sentiments at the time of this interview, telling Variety: “Sabrina’s instincts and creative vision are incredible. She always thinks ten steps ahead of the market.”
