Sacramento Police confront an armed subject at the Embassy Suites

Police negotiate with armed suspect at Sacramento hotel

Out there, Mike? YES. At the start of our eighth lesson here, Lisa is standing and I want to get out of the way because I was standing in front of the entrance to the Embassy Suites Hotel across the street. And what’s an interesting comparison here? GUESTS ARRIVE FOR CHECK-IN AT THE SAME TIME AS A STORY ABOVE. IN THE SECOND STORY, SOCORRO POLICE AND SWAT OFFICERS ARE BARRICADED IN A ROOM WITH A KNIFE OUTSIDE A PARTICULAR ROOM FOR AN INDIVIDUAL WHO IS STANDING IN CORRECTION WITH THEM. Take a look now. This is part of the video from the morning showing the police presence here. The number of officers arriving here is well over two dozen, almost three dozen police vehicles, including SWAT officers. THESE SWAT OFFICERS ARE NOW OUTSIDE THE ROOM ON THE SECOND FLOOR. IF YOU JUST JOIN US: It was around midnight when police received a call from security of a suspect acting suspiciously. When they arrived, they encountered a man with a knife. This person retreated to a room on the second floor. And since then, since this morning, the police have been trying to negotiate with this person to get him out of his room. But at this point, that person is still in that room. Now I asked her why such a significant police presence is necessary for one person alone in a room. HERE WAS THE ANSWER. Listen, I think the big problem is that we don’t know, right? We weren’t in that room. We don’t know what he has in this room. And obviously we know he has a knife. BUT COULD HE HAVE MORE? YES. And so we just want to be prepared to handle whatever comes our way. And just to give you a visual sense of how many officers are here, let’s look down the block. This is the intersection with I-5. From there you can see the flashing lights and every vehicle all the way to the entrance of the Embassy Suites. THESE ARE ALL THE POLICE VEHICLES WITH TWO SWAT CARS DIRECTLY TO THE RIGHT OF WHERE THE CAMERA IS NOW. Please note: As you drive across Tower Bridge towards the state capital, one lane will be obstructed by these police vehicles, meaning you will cross over into one lane during commute times. As for what happens in this second story, police say they continue to try to work with this individual to try to reach a peaceful resolution. BUT WE HAVE SEEN THE ROBOT IN USE HERE. We saw SWAT officers going in there with a riot shield. SO STILL NO PROGRESS IN GETTING THIS PERSON OUT OF THE ROOM. BUT AT THIS POINT THE SCENE IS INTERESTING BUT, AS SACRAMENTO POLICE SAY, THEY DO NOT BELIEVE THERE IS AN IMMEDIATE THREAT TO ANYONE ELSE HERE. THEREFORE, GUESTS CAN ENTER AND EXIT FROM THE FRONT OF THESE EMBASSY SUITES. IT’S ONLY THE SECOND STORY NOW TO BE EVACUATED DUE TO THIS ONGOING SITUATION WITH THE POLICE. LIVE IN FRONT OF THE EMBASSY SUITES HERE IN SACRAMENTO, MIKE TESELLE. KCRA THREE NEWS. Alright, MIKE, thank you very much for this live report.
