Sacramento residents are preparing for heavy rain and strong winds

IN A FEW MINUTES. OK. I look forward to it. HEATHER. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. While the people in the valley waited for the heavier rain and strong winds, some people started preparing outside and, among other things, made sure that the Christmas decorations didn’t get blown away. KARINA ESTRADA FROM KCRA 3 IS LIVE FOR US IN SACRAMENTOS FAB. FORTY’S NEIGHBORHOOD, FAMOUS FOR ITS CHRISTMAS EXHIBITIONS. So, KARINA, how do people prepare? Yes, right now it’s important that people just make sure the Christmas decorations are safe. As you can probably tell, we are already starting to see these winds while Heather is under tension. It also started to rain a bit so you can see how strong the wind is right now. AND THEY ARE EXPECTED TO GET STRONGER. BUT LET ME SHOW YOU THIS INFLATABLE REINDEER HERE. We’ve seen it change a lot. YOU CAN ALREADY SEE ONE OF YOUR CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS ON THE FLOOR. And that’s why it’s so important for people out here to make sure they’re prepared for the problems that can arise during heavy rain and wind. SACRAMENTO RESIDENTS TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE CALM BEFORE THE STORM, always raking and cleaning the roof, cleaning the gutters and making sure they are prepared for the problems that can come with heavy rain and strong winds. We have tons of light and all the houses are decorated, so we’ll come across something here. Either that or blown up fences, you know, things like that. OVER THE YEARS, RICHARD KING HAS LEARNED TO SECURE HIS CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS AND LAWN FURNITURE TO AVOID PROBLEMS. We had to deal with that. And you know, it’s going to be really windy, and just drive out and see when it passes. In strong winds there is also a risk of damage from falling trees. It’s quite difficult because there are limbs that could fall down and hit your car. Another important task is to rake out the leaves so they don’t clog drains and cause flooding. This time of year we all kind of go out, go into the corners and rake out the leaves. Either way, they’re working to prepare for whatever the weather brings. When it does, it will happen and we just have to deal with it. YES. So it’s just really important for these neighborhoods to be prepared for what could happen if this storm gets here tomorrow. They say even though it might rain tomorrow, they still expect people to come out and enjoy the Christmas decorations. We saw a lot of people out here tonight, so they’re definitely taking advantage of the clear skies tonight. LIVING IN SACRAMENTO, CATALINA ESTRADA KCRA THR
