Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed by an unknown person at 2 am and is currently hospitalized at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai. The actor suffered six stitches, two of which were deep, said Dr. Niraj Uttamani from Lilavati Hospital.

In an official statement, Dr. Lilavati Hospital Chief Operating Officer Niraj Uttamani said Saif Ali Khan was stabbed to death by an unknown person at his house in Bandra and was admitted at 3:30 am.

Dr. Uttamani said Mr Khan had six stab wounds and two were deep. “That means it’s close to the spine. He is treated by a team of doctors led by neurosurgeon Dr. Nitin Dange, the plastic surgeon Dr. Leena Jain and the anesthetist Dr. Nisha Gandhi operates.”

While the neurosurgery is over, the plastic surgeon is still repairing the wounds. “Saif is out of danger. We will submit a report in an hour,” said Dr. Uttamani.

Mr Khan’s team has released a statement confirming that there was an attempted break-in and that the actor is undergoing surgery.

The statement said: “There was an attempted burglary at the residence of Mr Saif Ali Khan. He is currently in hospital and undergoing surgery. We ask the media and fans for patience. This is a police matter. We will keep you updated on the situation.”

According to initial investigations, a burglar barged into Mr Khan’s Mumbai home in the Satguru Sharan building while he was sleeping. A fight broke out between the two – the actor and the burglar – after which he stabbed the actor and fled the scene.

An FIR was registered against an intruder at Bandra police station.

According to the sources, the police have taken three employees who worked at Mr Khan’s house for questioning. An employee who worked at Mr Khan’s house was also injured in the incident.

The Mumbai Crime Branch has been entrusted with the responsibility of parallel investigations. Seven teams have been formed to search for the suspect.

While one team is scanning the CCTV footage, the other team is leaving Mumbai and three other teams have left for different areas of Mumbai.
