New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr left the 14-11 win over the New York Giants early Sunday afternoon after a nasty fall on his left arm.

Although details are not yet known, the Saints may be without Carr for the final stretch of the season. The Saints fear Carr has suffered a fracture in his left hand. according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Carr will undergo further testing in the near future to determine the severity of his injury.

Carr ran for a first down late in the fourth quarter at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, throwing over three other players to make it happen. However, as he fell out of bounds just shy of the first-down marker, Carr landed squarely on his left wrist and arm.

As he lay on the ground, he immediately grabbed his arm and was obviously in great pain.

Carr left the field and went to the locker room without moving his left arm much. He didn’t return.

Backup Jake Haener replaced him for the rest of the drive, but New Orleans failed to convert on third down and had to punt the ball away. The Saints then intercepted Giants quarterback Drew Lock on their second-to-last drive, and then a 35-yard field goal attempt by Giants kicker Graham Gano was blocked in the final seconds. That miss, which likely would have forced overtime, sealed the three-point win for the Saints.

Carr finished the day completing 20 of 31 throws for 219 yards. In the third quarter, he threw an 11-yard touchdown to Juwan Johnson, giving the Saints a 14-3 lead at the time. He also threw his fifth interception of the season early in the second half, snapping the Giants’ defense to a historic 11-game losing streak.

Carr entered Sunday’s game with 1,926 passing yards and 14 touchdowns. The 33-year-old missed three games earlier this season due to an oblique injury he sustained after suffering a serious blow in a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in October. However, he returned to the field in the loss to the Carolina Panthers in November. 3. With the win, the Saints now have a record of 5-8, their third in the last four games.
