Sam Darnold’s nightmarish first half in his playoff debut against the Rams confused NFL fans

Sam Darnold had a brutal first half in the wild card round that left NFL fans wondering what it meant for his present and future.

The Minnesota Vikings entered halftime trailing 24-3 against the Los Angeles Rams after playing an absolutely terrible half of football offensively. The Vikings couldn’t hold anything on offense and were buried as the Rams took advantage.

Darnold finished the half 13 of 16 for 113 yards, with no touchdowns, one interception and one fumble returned for a touchdown. He was sacked six times and was constantly under pressure. He looked like the quarterback who struggled mightily against the Detroit Lions in Week 18 and didn’t remotely resemble the man who led the Vikings to a 14-2 record through the first 17 weeks of the season.

NFL fans were quick to pounce on him on social media.

Even Troy Aikman was there.

Darnold and the Vikings have 30 minutes left to save their season. They need a Pro Bowl quarterback who looks like one if they want to make this game competitive.
