On December 12th Arkansas Starting quarterback Taylen Green announced he would return next season. Just two days after the announcement of Green becoming Razorbacks head coach Sam Pittman discussed the implications of Green’s decision.

“He wants to be a pig, he wants to play here, he wants to play for the state.” Pittman said . “And this is nothing against the people who got into the portal. That’s not it. Their business is their business, but to me it’s a big deal that he wants to stay here and run it back and stay with Bobby and stay with this offense. I think it will be very big and beneficial for him and it will help us with recruiting too.”

Green transferred from to Arkansas Boise State ahead of the 2024 campaign. He immediately felt comfortable, starting all twelve games for the Razorbacks and accumulating 2,813 passing yards and 13 touchdowns, compared to nine interceptions.

Green’s arm wasn’t his only threat, he also recorded 521 yards and seven touchdowns in the ground game. Now Green will return to Arkansas for his final season of eligibility.

“I am deeply grateful to God for putting me in the position I am in today,” Green said in his post. “I appreciate everything Coach Pittman has done for me this past year. His unwavering support, guidance and belief in me throughout my time here has made this an incredible season on and off the field. I would also like to thank Coach Petrino for helping me develop as a player and for always challenging me to do my best.

“I would also like to thank my family for their constant love, sacrifice and encouragement. With that in mind, I am incredibly grateful to be returning to the University of Arkansas for my final college season.”

Arkansas made big strides this season with Green behind center. The Razorbacks finished the 2024 regular season with a 6-6 record, a two-game improvement over the 2023 season. With Green leading Arkansas’ offense, Pittman hopes to push his program forward again next season.

Still, not every Razorback was so quick to pledge allegiance to Arkansas after the regular season. The Razorbacks lost several key standouts to the transfer portal, such as tight end Luke Hasz and cornerback Jaylon Braxton .

Arkansas needs to find new players to lead the team alongside Taylen Green. These players will have the opportunity to do so when Arkansas competes Texas Tech at the Liberty Bowl on Friday at 7 p.m. ET.
