Sam Pittman updates his Liberty Bowl health status after hip surgery

Arkansas Razorbacks Head coach Sam Pittman was listed on availability reports after having his hip replaced following the end of the regular season. But it appears Pittman is on the road to recovery.

Before the Liberty Bowl, Pittman shared an update on his health following hip replacement and said he would continue to use a cane while practicing courtside at the bowl game. This came after he initially announced in November that he needed surgery.

“I can probably walk about 20 yards without a stick,” Sam Pittman said. “I’ll just have it on the side, I don’t know, maybe it’s a security blanket, maybe I need it, I don’t know.”

Sam Pittman was forced to train this Missouri Playing from the penalty areas, where in bad weather there was speculation that he wanted to be safer. This happened even though he knew before the start of the season that he needed surgery.

Now it seems like he’s feeling better on his new hip and he should be able to train from the sidelines again with the help of his cane. However, he still has time to change his approach before the game.

“But I’m sleeping a lot better,” Pittman said. “If I had known then what I knew now, 20 days after total hip surgery, I wouldn’t have bitten the bullet until the end of June when I found out and could have been more active during the season, but that’s how I feel about getting there reach.”

When Pittman initially explained that he needed to undergo hip replacement surgery, he shared that he had a bone chip that was causing him some pain. Since the procedure was performed, he has now been busy preparing for the bowl while also taking care of the transfer portal. This was something Pittman noticed before Christmas.

“I think, you know – I want everyone to know that I had my hip replacement on Tuesday and now I was in the office on Wednesday. So, this portal, what’s going on with the portal, had nothing to do with my hip surgery,” Pittman said. “I’ve been at it every day since I got it because I was told I could do it if I was hard enough. Luckily it was me.”

The Arkansas Razorbacks will face the Texas Tech Red Raiders in the Liberty Bowl on Friday, December 27th at 7:00 pm EST from Memphis, Tennessee.
