Strong winds in Santa Ana are raising fire concerns Monday, with a red flag warning for dangerous fire weather conditions in effect for parts of Southern California from 10 a.m. Monday through most of early Wednesday.

The critical fire warning comes as strong Santa Ana winds bring low humidity, falling to 15 to 25% by Monday afternoon. According to KCAL News meteorologist Amber Lee, winds are expected to increase late Monday and become stronger throughout the night, with peak winds arriving early Tuesday morning. Gusts between 50 and 55 mph are expected in wind prone areas.

A Red Flag Warning has been issued for the San Gabriel Mountains, Santa Clarita Valley, Santa Monica Mountains and western San Fernando Valley from 10 p.m. Monday through 6 p.m. Wednesday.

A Red Flag Warning is in effect for the foothill areas and coastal Malibu from 2:00 p.m. Monday to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday.

A red flag warning was issued for the I-5 corridor and the eastern San Fernando Valley and San Gabriel Valley from 10 a.m. Monday to 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The hardest hit areas are in the San Gabriel Valley, the Santa Monica Mountains, Malibu and from Porter Ranch to San Fernando.

The increased risk of fire in weather conditions is similar to conditions where the Mountain fire burned through Camarillo and Moorpark in Ventura County in November.

When the fire first broke out, the eastern area of Ventura County where it started was isolated under a severe, relatively rare Weather warning, known as a warning of particularly dangerous situations, which predicts the potential for volatile and rapid growth of wildfires due to conditions such as strong winds and extremely low humidity.
