PHILADELPHIA – Eagles running back Saquon Barkley did not play a snap in the final 13 minutes of the second quarter against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Barkley left the game after taking a hard hit from Steelers defensive end TJ Watt.

Barkley entered the blue medical tent for a brief moment and never went into the locker room. He stood on the sidelines with his helmet in his hand. While waiting to return to the game, Barkley did some lower-body exercises, including running in place and bending his knee.

Backup running back Kenneth Gainwell replaced Barkley on Philadelphia’s remaining drives in the first half. He rushed for nine yards on three carries. If Barkley is unable to return in the second half, the Eagles will fall back to a rotation of Gainwell and freshman Will Shipley.

Barkley rushed for 31 yards against Pittsburgh’s defense in the first half.
