Saturday’s College Football Playoff rankings

It’s finally championship week and it feels like the college football world is just ready to release these rankings so the playoffs can begin. The biggest shock comes from Columbus, where Ohio State missed a great opportunity with a 13-10 home loss to Michigan. This would certainly knock the Buckeyes out of their fifth seed and prevent them from facing the potential fourth seed in the second round, so they may now have to play on the road before facing the one seeded team. Additionally, Miami’s loss to Syracuse opens up the possibility for a team like Alabama to get into the playoffs through the back door despite three losses. If SMU beats Clemson and wins the ACC, the bottom of the standings will be eligible for the playoffs, leaving Miami at 10-2.
