Scarlett Johansson cringe as Colin Jost is forced to joke about marriage on ‘SNL’

Despite a recurring feeling of anxiety, “Saturday Night Live” star Colin Jost has probably gotten used to delivering merciless jokes at his wife Scarlett Johansson’s expense as part of the annual joke swap where he and “Weekend Update” co-host Michael Che deliver jokes to tell, wrote for each other during the news portion of the show – supposedly without seeing each other first.

What Jost may not have been prepared for this year was Johansson’s presence backstage, as she was forced to watch her husband get vaccinated in real time while the camera switched between the two. The actress appeared on “SNL” to welcome host Martin Short to the prestigious Five Timers Club, which she joined in 2017. However, before responding to jokes about his wife, Jost read racist jokes that Che had written for him, as happened in years past.

“Time out. Before we do this, I know Michael is going to make me tell a few racist jokes like he always does,” Jost began. “So if you don’t mind, I’d like to read all the jokes in ‘Black Voice’ this time so I don’t get in trouble.”

“I’m so sorry in advance,” he told the audience before making a joke about Vice President Kamala Harris and slavery reparations. “You know, my friend Kamala Harris held a town hall meeting and talked about (how) she still supports the idea of reparations for slavery. Well damn, girl. Me too. Because the white people deserve our money back for all the slaves that ran away,” he said, clearly horrified by the comment. “Shiz. I’m not afraid of you mofos,” read a pained Jost amid laughter.

The next joke focused on Jost’s wife, but he continued to speak in a “black voice” throughout the segment.

“I want to dedicate this next joke to my friend Scarlett Johansson,” Jost said. The camera then shows Johansson backstage watching the recording. Holding her drink, Johansson winced as she prepared for the inevitable.

“Why?” Johansson could be heard saying as the camera cut to her. “Shiz,” Jost continued hysterically. “No no. I’m just playing.” “We just had a child together and you haven’t seen any pictures of him because he’s fucking black,” he said, referring to the couple’s son, Cosmo. “Shiz. “I’m not afraid of you mofos,” he repeated.

“Oh shit,” Johansson said, the camera back on her, taking a sip of her drink.
