North Carolina school closures, delays, distance learning list for Tuesday due to possible snow

SNOW. BUT HERE AT HOME YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE MOUNTAINS TO SEE SOMETHING NEAR THE. BUT IT WILL BE COLD ENOUGH IN NORTH CAROLINA. BRIAN SAYS FOR THE S-WORD SNOW IN THE TRIAD WE MAY GET A LITTLE POP LATE TONIGHT. And again, this won’t matter much at all, but there’s a chance some people will wake up tomorrow morning and like a light coating on some of the grassy surfaces on the roofs of the cars. So we’ll see. We’ll see how this plays out. It won’t be much, but it would be nice to see, right? Temperatures are expected to be bone-chilling. Chill again. WE HAVE A FEW arctic explosions this week. ANOTHER MOVES IN WITH THIS SYSTEM. There will be lows into the 20s. Afternoon temperatures will be around 40°C for the next few days. Wind chilled temperatures will feel like 20°C at times. Bring pets indoors, or at least let them outside for short periods of time when they go out. Then make sure to disconnect the hoses and just try to take a few measures to prevent the lines from freezing. BECAUSE WE GET THESE COLD AIR MASSES EVERY FEW DAYS. It brought with it another blow of mountain snow. It wasn’t much. Most areas are less than an inch, but you can see the cold front. Another reinforcement shot comes in. This is the storm system. IT’S NOT MUCH. THIS IS CALLED ARCTIC CLIPPER. It is a shallow, cold pool of air that moves very quickly across the Plains States. BUT OCCASIONALLY THERE IS A LITTLE MOISTURE IN FRONT OF THEM. The unusual thing is usually that winter storm systems that come from this direction, the north and west, dump their moisture on the west or northwest facing slopes and don’t get much over the mountains. I think this low is strong enough that it could even bring a few snowflakes over the foothills and Triad very late this evening. OUR TEMPERATURES. You can see how cold it is. FARGO NOT BELOW FREEZING YET BUT YOU CAN SEE IT EASIER. THIS LIGHT BLUE AND WHITE COLOR IS THE CENTER OF THE ARCTIC AIR MASSES. Most of it is in central Canada, but it is moving south quickly and will lower temperatures along the way. We are currently well below freezing. TONIGHT IT’S 27 DEGREES, THE SAME TEMPERATURE AS 23 DEGREES IN SOME MOUNTAIN COMMUNITIES. NOW IN NORTH WILKESBORO REIDSVILLE AND 21 UP IN DANVILLE AND MARTINSVILLE. SO COLD MORNING BELOW FREEZING IN ALL AREAS. HIGH TEMPERATURES ONLY REACH THE LOWER 40S. THIS AFTERNOON. There will be brisk north-westerly winds of around 5 to 15 degrees. Maybe a few high clouds occasionally, but those clouds will become thicker later this afternoon and certainly in the evening hours this evening, with the storm nearing 40 degrees in the foothills, the mountain temperatures are unlikely to be reached. It will be freezing cold today, and also could be a stormy one Northwest winds will blow up to 20°C, which means wind temperatures are expected to be between 10 and 20°C. So let’s lay this out for you with the hourly forecast, going through the afternoon and even into the early evening. THE TEMPERATURES WILL BE COLD ENOUGH THAT IF WE GET HUMIDITY OVER THE MOUNTAINS, AS YOU SEE THIS GRAY IS INDICATED BETWEEN 11 AM AND 2 AM, COULD BE THE WINDOW WHERE WE CAN SEE SOME SNOWFLAKES, MAYBE SOME SNOW SHOWERS, THE GET INVOLVED, AND THAT COULD BE ENOUGH TO COLLECT VERY, VERY EASILY. AND SOME OF THE COLDER SURFACES. When you wake up tomorrow morning, there may still be leftovers. Temperatures will remain cold as the wind continues to blow strongly. POTENTIAL TOTAL NUMBERS. The mountains get the best of it. AND IT’S NOT MUCH. THESE SYSTEMS ARE COLD AND DRY AND DO NOT USUALLY PRODUCE MUCH, BUT SOME OF THE MODELS INDICATE THAT SOME COMMUNITIES IN THE TRIAD MAY EXPERIENCE A LIGHT DUST AS A RESULT. NOT JUST OUR SOUTHERN AREAS. I think it could go a little further north. That’s why it will be cold at the Christmas parade in Lexington tonight. WE START THIS EVENING AT 6:00 AM WITH TEMPERATURES IN THE MID 30°C IN THE CITY, THEN IT COOLS TO 20°C. ANOTHER PARADE IN RANDLEMAN. That’s on Thursday. Temperatures should rise into the 50s during the day, but by 7 a.m. START IN THE FRESH NORTHWEST WIND. THE TEMPERATURES COOL TO 30°C. AND THERE ARE THREE PARADES OR AT LEAST EVENTS ON FRIDAY. AND VALUE. IT’S MORE OF A CHRISTMAS EVENT IN THE DOWNTOWN. IT STARTS AT 530. THE PARADES IN MEBANE AND ASHEBORO START AT SEVEN AND WE WILL SEE THE TEMPERATURES GO TO THE 30S AND ULTIMATELY THE 20S. A TOTAL OF MORE THAN 30 PARADES WILL TAKE PLACE BETWEEN NOW AND SUNDAY. So this is the big parade weekend. Please note that temperatures are slightly colder for Saturday’s parades. Milder condition
